10 Kidney Stone Remedies!


Kidney stones are a very common health problem. They form from uric acid, phosphorous, calcium, and oxalic acid, which are the chemicals of urine. Causes of kidney stone problems are excessive consumption of vitamin D, mineral imbalance, gout, and improper diet. The main cause, however, is lack of hydration (dehydration). Heads up! Symptoms include severe pain, desire to urinate frequently, painful urination, nausea, vomiting, and excessive sweating. It is not wrong to go to the doctor, but sometimes you just need to DIY (Do It Yourself)!

1. Lemon Juice and Olive oil

  1. Take 4 tbs.or quarter cup of fresh lemon juice.

  2. Add an equal amount of olive oil.

  3. Drink mixture followed by plenty of water.

  4. Repeat 2-3 times a day for 3 days.

It may not be suitable for large kidney stones, as they vary in size. It could be as big as a golf ball

or as small as a crumb.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

  1. Mix 2 tbs. of organic apple cider vinegar and 1 tsp of honey.

  2. Drink few times a day

Did you know that apple cider vinegar has an alkalizing effect on blood and urine? It is also good for other things such as hiccups, bloating, pimples, healthy skin and hair, aging and much more!

3. Pomegranate

*The seeds and juices are the only edible part.

  • Try to consume a whole pomegranate or big glass daily.

*They are great in salads!

4. Nettle Leaf Tea

Add 2 tsp. of dried leaf to 1 cup of hot water.

Let it steep for 10 min., then strain it.

Drink 2-3 times a day for several weeks.

This will keep crystals from turning into stones and keep bacteria away. It helps keep water flowing throughout the kidney and bladder, which makes smooth urination! It is a natural diuretic.

5. Basil

You have 3 choices for short basil remedies.

Option 1:

  1. Mix 1 tsp. of honey and basil juice.

  2. Take daily in the morning for 5-6 months.

Option 2:

  • Chew 2-3 basil leaves daily.

Option 3:

  • Steep 5-6 basil leaves to 1 cup of hot water for about 10 min. and add 1 tsp. of honey.

I love basil; it is my favorite herb! My mom will make a delicious pasta sauce in summer with different types of pasta. I will make a post about that for the summer edition! After all, who doesn't like a nutritious, delicious, pasta sauce !

6. Watermelon

Just eat it!

7. Bran Flakes

Bran Flakes are rich with fiber, which decreases kidney stones!

8. Celery

the Anti-Spasmodic properties of raw celery juice can relieve the pain. So you've got two options!

Option 1;

  1. Put water and celery in a blender.

  2. Blend and drink daily.

Option 2;

Put celery seeds in 1 cup of hot water.

Let it steep for 10 min. and drink daily.

9. Bread

Who doesn't like bread? If it is whole grain it works!

10. Kidney Beans

Option 1;

Eat kidney beans in a soup or salad.

Option 2;

  1. Put beans in hot water.

  2. Simmer water on low flame for hours until the beans are tender.

  3. Strain water and allow to cool.

  4. Drink throughout the day daily.

If it is kept for 24 hours, however, it will loose it's therapeutic properties.
